What
is a Personal Bingo Verifer
(PBV)?
PBVs
are hand-held electronic devices which can be used to verify
your bingo cards. They do not replace the traditional way
of playing bingo with dabbers, rather they assist you with
playing your cards.
Players
purchase their books and specials as they normally would.
At the PBV counter, Bingo Country staff will gladly enter the
serial numbers (sequence) required for the device to store your
cards that you've purchased.
As
the bingo caller calls the bingo numbers, the players enter
the numbers called into the device. The device keeps track
of the stored cards and notifies the bingo player when they have
a winning card.
Using
a Personal Bingo Verifier
-
Simply
purchase your regular books and specials from the
charity counter.
-
Then
proceed to the PBV counter where you can pick up your
Personal Bingo Verifier.
-
Bingo
Country staff will load (enter) your your cards into
the PBV.
-
Once
your cards are stored in the PBV, you will be provided
with a receipt.
-
Please
verify
that the correct serial numbers on your
paper bingo cards are listed on the receipt:
-
The
serial numbers are found in the free space of
the card located in the top left-hand corner
-
For
your book, only the one serial number is entered
-
For
single cards (specials) the top card of each strip
is entered
-
You
must keep this receipt with you during the entire
bingo session. The receipt will be your proof of
purchase.
-
All
players using a PBV must continue to tear off and
destroy paper as it is played.
-
When
verifying a winning PBV, the corresponding winning
paper card must be found and the correct pattern must
be dabbed. The bingo will not be called back
for verification with with the caller until this is
done.
-
There
are a limited number of PBVs available at every
session on a first come, first served basis.
(one per customer only)
-
There
is a limit to the number of strips that can be played on the PBVs, staff at
the counter can advise you.
-
Some
special games may not be included in the PBVs - staff at
the counter can advise you on which cards can be
entered.
-
At
the end of the bingo session please return the
Personal Bingo Verifier to the PBV counter.
-
The
mechanical failure of the device shall in no way
result in the interruption of the bingo event.
The
game of bingo shall at all times be played through paper
cards with numbers dabbed by the player, in the
conventional way and under no circumstances shall the
Personal Bingo Verifier replace the use of paper cards and
dabbers.
Tips for Using a Personal Bingo Verifier
-
It
is advisable to have the entered numbers called into the
device dabbed on the paper cards as you go along:
-
Many
PBV users dab only the cards that are doing well
or getting close
-
Many
PBV users dab all the cards as well as using the device (using the device as a
double check in the case of missed numbers)
-
PBV
users that can find their winning cards fast, wait
until a card is down to one number needed then dab
the pattern before the winning number is called
-
Please
do not attempt to look for the winning card only after
a card has won - this often holds up the bingo game
-
If
the device fails or you're not sure whether you're on
the correct game, etc. immediately let the staff know
and dab your paper cards while the staff attempt to
correct the problem.
